Senate Bill 202 transferred four occupational regulatory programs from the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) to the Texas Medical Board (TMB). Medical Physicists, Medical Radiologic Technologists, Perfusionists, and Respiratory Care Practitioners will now be regulated by the TMB and each occupation’s respective board/advisory committee.
This means that instead of the Department of Health handling the licensure and renewals of radiologic technologists, they have transferred this function to the Texas Medical Board. The requirements for continuing education remain the same, it's just that the credits get reported to a different agency.
